North Somerset Council - Community Learning

Learn basic BSL to communicate better with those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Learn finger spelling alphabet, how to introduce yourself

and have an initial conversation with someone who uses BSL.


Community Learning offer short courses for adults living in North Somerset (minimum age 19).

Priority is given to those who have few or no qualifications, and to those who wish to develop skills and

confidence for work, further learning or to improve their health and wellbeing.

Our courses are FREE for those on benefits and with low incomes.

Due to our funding each person can attend only one course at a time –

and are welcomed and encouraged to join follow-on courses.


Fridays 10am -12.30pm from 30 January to 27 March 2026 (8 sessions excluding 20 February)

at The Campus, Highlands Lane, Weston-super-Mare BS24 7DX
