A welcoming Dementia friendly Day Club in Worle, offering good company, meaningful activities, music, reminiscence, creativity and time to connect with others in a calm community setting.

Please note that we are actively exploring extending our offer to more days and locations across North Somerset.

About the Day Club

Our Dementia Day Club is a warm and engaging community service for adults living with mild to moderate dementia, memory difficulties or similar needs.

Based at Tamar Court in Worle, the Day Club gives people the opportunity to enjoy time with others, take part in activities, share memories, build routine and spend part of the day in a friendly, dementia aware environment.

The focus is simple: good company, meaningful moments and a positive experience for each person who attends.

Each session is shaped around the people in the room. This may include music, reminiscence, sensory activities, arts and crafts, gentle wellbeing, conversation, seasonal celebrations and links with the wider community.

What makes it different

This is not a traditional “sit around the edge of the room” day service. Our aim is to create a welcoming club atmosphere where people feel known, included and able to take part in a way that feels right for them.

The service includes:

• A dementia aware team who take time to understand each person

• A calm and welcoming setting at Tamar Court

• Small group sessions based on suitability and individual need

• Activities linked to memories, interests, music, creativity and conversation

• Opportunities for friendship, routine and social connection

• Reassurance for families and carers

• Optional lunch and transport arrangements where available

• A friendly referral and trial process

Who the Day Club may suit

The Day Club may be suitable for adults living with mild to moderate dementia, memory difficulties or similar support needs who would benefit from a friendly group setting, meaningful activity and time with others.

Before attendance is confirmed, we will have a friendly conversation with the person, their family, carer or professional involved. This helps us understand what matters to the person, what they enjoy, what support they may need, and whether the Day Club is likely to be the right fit.

Where appropriate, a trial session may be offered.

A unique Outreach Offer when attending the Day Club is not possible

One of the things that makes the Access Your Care Dementia Day Club different is that our support does not have to stop at the door of the Day Club.

As part of our wider offer, we are very excited to provide a flexible outreach option for those occasions when someone is unable to attend their usual Day Club session. This may be arranged as short-term or one-off support at home, helping to maintain connection, reassurance and routine when plans unexpectedly change.

This can be particularly valuable where someone is having a more difficult or unsettled day, where a family member or carer still needs a period of respite, or where attending the Day Club is not possible due to a short term change in circumstances.

Rather than simply cancelling the day, our outreach offer gives families another option. It allows the person to still receive meaningful contact, companionship and wellbeing-focused support from a familiar dementia-aware team, while helping carers feel reassured that support has not simply fallen away.

This offer is designed to complement the Day Club, not replace it. It remains subject to suitability, availability, location and safe support arrangements, but it reflects our wider ambition: to build a dementia support model that is flexible, responsive and genuinely helpful to people and families when real life does not go exactly to plan.
